Jim "Rocky" Rothwell started racing in 1979. His first race was racing a late model at the Fulton Speedway.
Since 1979 Rocky has raced late models, sportsmans and 358 modifieds.
He has raced on many area tracks such as Five Mile Point, Brookfield, Skyline, Utica Rome, Fulton, Fonda and Brewerton.

Claim the 2005 Track Championship at Skyline

As the 2005 racing season drew near, the Parts Plus Racing Team was getting ready to launch a all out assault on the field of cars at the Skyline Raceway.
Jim Rothwell is no stranger to winning races and titles. He has collected 92 wins along with 5 track titles in his career. This season at Skyline, Rothwell racked up 12 top fives and three wins. “Being consistent and patient is what helped win the title for us” said Rocky. “We knew we had a shot at the title but we knew we had to finish races”.  With sponsors such as Parts Plus, Upstate Auto Glass and Morrisville College we were able to keep our program strong and go for that title” Rocky continued.
Rothwell's racing career started in 1979, piloting a Late Model at Fulton Speedway. He has sense raced at several area tracks, in various car types. He collected his first career win at The Five Mile Point Speedway. Rocky was also the overall NASCAR. Series champion in 1994 from the Fulton and Utica Rome Speedways.
